When you realize there is a generation worth of people who look back on the Metallica catalog instead of having experienced it in real-time.
They’re not that old, I’m not that old. Get off my lawn!

They’re technically Classic Rock now. Pretty soon they’ll be on the Oldies station.

Metallica was bordering on classic rock when I was in high school twenty years ago.

It could happen. Eventually all of those people that listen to brain numbing bubble gum oldies will be gone.

Sure, their early stuff. But being in High School in the 90s still meant that i was cognizant of them from just after ...And Justice For All through to now.

So you got to watch them turn to shit?

Effectively, yes. Which is why I laugh that there are people who include Load/Reload in the “Good old days” of Metallica because looking back they were still better than Lulu, St. Anger and Death Magnetic.

20 years later, I’m still angry I paid money for Load.

Agreed, but I don't mind Death Magnetic, although it is very different than the early stuff.

Also, their “new” bass player is this guy, who is nowhere near as good as the guy before.
